Does anyone still care about NCAL? This edition of Couch News will be all about the World Cup. Fight me.

Game of the Week

Look, it’s not because it’s the US. But, the US vs Iran was as stressful as a match can get. The US needed a win and only a win against 2000’s political adversary, Iran, in order to get out of the group stage. Thanks to our lord and savior, Christian Pulisic, the US took a 1-0 lead late in the first half. But that goal came with a sacrificial testical. As Pulisic scored the header, his momentum took him to an injury sustaining clash with Iranian goalkeeper (probably lost a testy, but I’m no doctor). The second half, especially the last 20 minutes were on full butt-clenching mode. Iran’s physical side went on the attack and had chance after chance. Ultimately, thanks to bald eagles and trucks everywhere, the US managed to hold on to the win and secure a spot in the round of 16. US will play the Netherlands this coming Saturday at 7AM PST.

Coach of the Week

Dutch Manager, Louis Van Gaal. Not for tactical reasons or for that GOAT Tim Krul substitute in 2014. But just because I enjoy his interviews. Just YouTube Louis Van Gaal interview highlights. Glad the man is back in the spotlight.

Goal of the Week

Casemiro’s volley against Switzerland was pure sex.

Toilet Play of the Week

Qatar. Aside from horrific violations of human rights, Qatar announced that they would ban beer sales during the World Cup. Shame on you, Qatar.
